Genesis 38.0: 38 Genesis 38.1: 1 At that time, Judah went down from his brothers, and visited a certain Adullamite, whose name was Hirah. Genesis 38.2: 2 There, Judah saw the daughter of a certain Canaanite man named Shua. He took her, and went in to her. Genesis 38.3: 3 She conceived, and bore a son; and he named him Er. Genesis 38.4: 4 She conceived again, and bore a son; and she named him Onan. Genesis 38.5: 5 She yet again bore a son, and named him Shelah. He was at Chezib when she bore him. Genesis 38.6: 6 Judah took a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. Genesis 38.7: 7 Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in Yahweh’s sight. So Yahweh killed him. Genesis 38.8: 8 Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.” Genesis 38.9: 9 Onan knew that the offspring wouldn’t be his; and when he went in to his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground, lest he should give offspring to his brother. Genesis 38.10: 10 The thing which he did was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and he killed him also. Genesis 38.11: 11 Then Judah said to Tamar, his daughter-in-law, “Remain a widow in your father’s house, until Shelah, my son, is grown up;” for he said, “Lest he also die, like his brothers.” Tamar went and lived in her father’s house. Genesis 38.12: 12 After many days, Shua’s daughter, the wife of Judah, died. Judah was comforted, and went up to his sheep shearers to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah, the Adullamite. Genesis 38.13: 13 Tamar was told, “Behold, your father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.” Genesis 38.14: 14 She took off the garments of her widowhood, and covered herself with her veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in the gate of Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown up, and she wasn’t given to him as a wife. Genesis 38.15: 15 When Judah saw her, he thought that she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. Genesis 38.16: 16 He turned to her by the way, and said, “Please come, let me come in to you,” for he didn’t know that she was his daughter-in-law. She said, “What will you give me, that you may come in to me?” Genesis 38.17: 17 He said, “I will send you a young goat from the flock.” She said, “Will you give me a pledge, until you send it?” Genesis 38.18: 18 He said, “What pledge will I give you?” She said, “Your signet and your cord, and your staff that is in your hand.” He gave them to her, and came in to her, and she conceived by him. Genesis 38.19: 19 She arose, and went away, and put off her veil from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood. Genesis 38.20: 20 Judah sent the young goat by the hand of his friend, the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the woman’s hand, but he didn’t find her. Genesis 38.21: 21 Then he asked the men of her place, saying, “Where is the prostitute, that was at Enaim by the road?” They said, “There has been no prostitute here.” Genesis 38.22: 22 He returned to Judah, and said, “I haven’t found her; and also the men of the place said, ‘There has been no prostitute here.’” Genesis 38.23: 23 Judah said, “Let her keep it, lest we be shamed. Behold, I sent this young goat, and you haven’t found her.” Genesis 38.24: 24 About three months later, Judah was told, “Tamar, your daughter-in-law, has played the prostitute. Moreover, behold, she is with child by prostitution.” Judah said, “Bring her out, and let her be burned.” Genesis 38.25: 25 When she was brought out, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, “I am with child by the man who owns these.” She also said, “Please discern whose these are—the signet, and the cords, and the staff.” Genesis 38.26: 26 Judah acknowledged them, and said, “She is more righteous than I, because I didn’t give her to Shelah, my son.” He knew her again no more. Genesis 38.27: 27 In the time of her travail, behold, twins were in her womb. Genesis 38.28: 28 When she travailed, one put out a hand, and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, “This came out first.” Genesis 38.29: 29 As he drew back his hand, behold, his brother came out, and she said, “Why have you made a breach for yourself?” Therefore his name was called Perez. Genesis 38.30: 30 Afterward his brother came out, who had the scarlet thread on his hand, and his name was called Zerah. Ephesians 1.15: 15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which you have toward all the saints, Ephesians 1.16: 16 don’t cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers, Ephesians 1.17: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, Ephesians 1.18: 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Ephesians 1.19: 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might Ephesians 1.20: 20 which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, Ephesians 1.21: 21 far above all rule, authority, power, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. Ephesians 1.22: 22 He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly, Ephesians 1.23: 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. Ephesians 2.0: 2 Ephesians 2.1: 1 You were made alive when you were dead in transgressions and sins, Ephesians 2.2: 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the children of disobedience. Ephesians 2.3: 3 We also all once lived among them in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. Ephesians 2.4: 4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, Ephesians 2.5: 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— Ephesians 2.6: 6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Ephesians 2.7: 7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; Ephesians 2.8: 8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, Ephesians 2.9: 9 not of works, that no one would boast. Ephesians 2.10: 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them. Ephesians 2.11: 11 Therefore remember that once you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “uncircumcision” by that which is called “circumcision” (in the flesh, made by hands), Ephesians 2.12: 12 that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world. Ephesians 2.13: 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2.14: 14 For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of separation, Ephesians 2.15: 15 having abolished in his flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace, Ephesians 2.16: 16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility through it. Ephesians 2.17: 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near. Ephesians 2.18: 18 For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2.19: 19 So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and of the household of God, Ephesians 2.20: 20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone; Ephesians 2.21: 21 in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord; Ephesians 2.22: 22 in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit. Ephesians 3.0: 3 Ephesians 3.1: 1 For this cause I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles, Ephesians 3.2: 2 if it is so that you have heard of the administration of that grace of God which was given me toward you, Ephesians 3.3: 3 how that by revelation the mystery was made known to me, as I wrote before in few words, Ephesians 3.4: 4 by which, when you read, you can perceive my understanding in the mystery of Christ, Ephesians 3.5: 5 which in other generations was not made known to the children of men, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets in the Spirit, Ephesians 3.6: 6 that the Gentiles are fellow heirs and fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of his promise in Christ Jesus through the Good News, Ephesians 3.7: 7 of which I was made a servant according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power. Ephesians 3.8: 8 To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, Ephesians 3.9: 9 and to make all men see what is the administration of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ, Ephesians 3.10: 10 to the intent that now through the assembly the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places, Ephesians 3.11: 11 according to the eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. Ephesians 3.12: 12 In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him. Ephesians 3.13: 13 Therefore I ask that you may not lose heart at my troubles for you, which are your glory. Ephesians 3.14: 14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Ephesians 3.15: 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, Ephesians 3.16: 16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, Ephesians 3.17: 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, Ephesians 3.18: 18 may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, Ephesians 3.19: 19 and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3.20: 20 Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Ephesians 3.21: 21 to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 4.0: 4 Ephesians 4.1: 1 I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, Ephesians 4.2: 2 with all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, Ephesians 4.3: 3 being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4.4: 4 There is one body and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling, Ephesians 4.5: 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Ephesians 4.6: 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all, and in us all. Ephesians 4.7: 7 But to each one of us, the grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Ephesians 4.8: 8 Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to people.” Ephesians 4.9: 9 Now this, “He ascended”, what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? Ephesians 4.10: 10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things. Ephesians 4.11: 11 He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; Ephesians 4.12: 12 for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ, Ephesians 4.13: 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, Ephesians 4.14: 14 that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error; Ephesians 4.15: 15 but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ, Ephesians 4.16: 16 from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love. Ephesians 4.17: 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, Ephesians 4.18: 18 being darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts. Ephesians 4.19: 19 They, having become callous, gave themselves up to lust, to work all uncleanness with greediness. Ephesians 4.20: 20 But you didn’t learn Christ that way, Ephesians 4.21: 21 if indeed you heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus: Ephesians 4.22: 22 that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit, Ephesians 4.23: 23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, Ephesians 4.24: 24 and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth. Ephesians 4.25: 25 Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. Ephesians 4.26: 26 “Be angry, and don’t sin.” Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, Ephesians 4.27: 27 and don’t give place to the devil. Ephesians 4.28: 28 Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, producing with his hands something that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need. Ephesians 4.29: 29 Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4.30: 30 Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Ephesians 4.31: 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. Ephesians 4.32: 32 And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 5.0: 5 Ephesians 5.1: 1 Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. Ephesians 5.2: 2 Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance. Ephesians 5.3: 3 But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints; Ephesians 5.4: 4 nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate, but rather giving of thanks. Ephesians 5.5: 5 Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral person, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Christ and God. Ephesians 5.6: 6 Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience. Ephesians 5.7: 7 Therefore don’t be partakers with them. Ephesians 5.8: 8 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light, Ephesians 5.9: 9 for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth, Ephesians 5.10: 10 proving what is well pleasing to the Lord. Ephesians 5.17: 17 Therefore don’t be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5.18: 18 Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5.19: 19 speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs; singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5.20: 20 giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to God, even the Father; Ephesians 5.21: 21 subjecting yourselves to one another in the fear of Christ. Ephesians 5.22: 22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. Ephesians 5.23: 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. Ephesians 5.24: 24 But as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything. Ephesians 5.25: 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it; Ephesians 5.26: 26 that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word, Ephesians 5.27: 27 that he might present the assembly to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without defect. Ephesians 5.28: 28 Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. Ephesians 5.29: 29 For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly; Ephesians 5.30: 30 because we are members of his body, of his flesh and bones. Ephesians 5.31: 31 “For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife. The two will become one flesh.” Ephesians 5.32: 32 This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Christ and of the assembly. Ephesians 5.33: 33 Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband. Ephesians 6.0: 6 Ephesians 6.1: 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Ephesians 6.2: 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise: Ephesians 6.3: 3 “that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.” Ephesians 6.4: 4 You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6.5: 5 Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ, Ephesians 6.6: 6 not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, Ephesians 6.7: 7 with good will doing service as to the Lord, and not to men, Ephesians 6.8: 8 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same good again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free. Ephesians 6.9: 9 You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him. Ephesians 6.10: 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Ephesians 6.11: 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6.12: 12 For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6.13: 13 Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6.14: 14 Stand therefore, having the utility belt of truth buckled around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Ephesians 6.15: 15 and having fitted your feet with the preparation of the Good News of peace, Ephesians 6.16: 16 above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one. Ephesians 6.17: 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Ephesians 6.18: 18 with all prayer and requests, praying at all times in the Spirit, and being watchful to this end in all perseverance and requests for all the saints: Ephesians 6.19: 19 on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, Ephesians 6.20: 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6.22: 22 I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know our state and that he may comfort your hearts. Ephesians 6.23: 23 Peace be to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 6.24: 24 Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ with incorruptible love. Amen. 2 Peter 0.0: Peter’s Second Letter 2 Peter 1.0: 1 2 Peter 1.1: 1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2 Peter 1.2: 2 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 2 Peter 1.3: 3 seeing that his divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and virtue, 2 Peter 1.4: 4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. 2 Peter 1.5: 5 Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; 2 Peter 1.6: 6 and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control perseverance; and in perseverance godliness; 2 Peter 1.7: 7 and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. 2 Peter 1.8: 8 For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to not be idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1.9: 9 For he who lacks these things is blind, seeing only what is near, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins. 2 Peter 1.10: 10 Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. 2 Peter 1.11: 11 For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1.12: 12 Therefore I will not be negligent to remind you of these things, though you know them, and are established in the present truth. 2 Peter 1.13: 13 I think it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 2 Peter 1.14: 14 knowing that the putting off of my tent comes swiftly, even as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. 2 Peter 1.15: 15 Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure. 2 Peter 1.16: 16 For we didn’t follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 2 Peter 1.17: 17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 2 Peter 1.18: 18 We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. 2 Peter 1.19: 19 We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts: 2 Peter 1.20: 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of private interpretation. 2 Peter 1.21: 21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 2.0: 2 2 Peter 2.1: 1 But false prophets also arose among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2.2: 2 Many will follow their immoral ways, and as a result, the way of the truth will be maligned. 2 Peter 2.3: 3 In covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words: whose sentence now from of old doesn’t linger, and their destruction will not slumber. 2 Peter 2.4: 4 For if God didn’t spare angels when they sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus, and committed them to pits of darkness to be reserved for judgment; 2 Peter 2.5: 5 and didn’t spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood on the world of the ungodly; 2 Peter 2.6: 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, having made them an example to those who would live in an ungodly way; 2 Peter 2.7: 7 and delivered righteous Lot, who was very distressed by the lustful life of the wicked 2 Peter 2.8: 8 (for that righteous man dwelling among them was tormented in his righteous soul from day to day with seeing and hearing lawless deeds): 2 Peter 2.9: 9 the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment, 2 Peter 2.10: 10 but chiefly those who walk after the flesh in the lust of defilement and despise authority. Daring, self-willed, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries; 2 Peter 2.11: 11 whereas angels, though greater in might and power, don’t bring a railing judgment against them before the Lord. 2 Peter 2.12: 12 But these, as unreasoning creatures, born natural animals to be taken and destroyed, speaking evil in matters about which they are ignorant, will in their destroying surely be destroyed, 2 Peter 2.13: 13 receiving the wages of unrighteousness; people who count it pleasure to revel in the daytime, spots and defects, reveling in their deceit while they feast with you; 2 Peter 2.14: 14 having eyes full of adultery, and who can’t cease from sin; enticing unsettled souls; having a heart trained in greed; children of cursing; 2 Peter 2.15: 15 forsaking the right way, they went astray, having followed the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of wrongdoing; 2 Peter 2.16: 16 but he was rebuked for his own disobedience. A mute donkey spoke with a man’s voice and stopped the madness of the prophet. 2 Peter 2.17: 17 These are wells without water, clouds driven by a storm; for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever. 2 Peter 2.18: 18 For, uttering great swelling words of emptiness, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by licentiousness, those who are indeed escaping from those who live in error; 2 Peter 2.19: 19 promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for a man is brought into bondage by whoever overcomes him. 2 Peter 2.20: 20 For if, after they have escaped the defilement of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in it and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. 2 Peter 2.21: 21 For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. 2 Peter 2.22: 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, “The dog turns to his own vomit again,” and “the sow that has washed to wallowing in the mire.” 2 Peter 3.0: 3 2 Peter 3.1: 1 This is now, beloved, the second letter that I have written to you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by reminding you, 2 Peter 3.2: 2 that you should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior: 2 Peter 3.3: 3 knowing this first, that in the last days mockers will come, walking after their own lusts 2 Peter 3.4: 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of his coming? For, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” 2 Peter 3.5: 5 For this they willfully forget that there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water and amid water by the word of God, 2 Peter 3.6: 6 by which means the world that existed then, being overflowed with water, perished. 2 Peter 3.7: 7 But the heavens that exist now and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. 2 Peter 3.8: 8 But don’t forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3.9: 9 The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but he is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3.10: 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 2 Peter 3.11: 11 Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, 2 Peter 3.12: 12 looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 2 Peter 3.13: 13 But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. 2 Peter 3.14: 14 Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without defect and blameless in his sight. 2 Peter 3.15: 15 Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you, 2 Peter 3.16: 16 as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. 2 Peter 3.17: 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware, lest being carried away with the error of the wicked, you fall from your own steadfastness. 2 Peter 3.18: 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
